These discounts on everyday items will take care of the $45 membership fee all by themselves.

There are a million reasons to love Sam’s Club. Like the rest of its big box brethren, the food court alone is enough to inspire a trip. And the free samples? Sign us up!

But are the savings on bulk goods actually enough to warrant the annual membership fee? We know what mama would say, but we had to find out for ourselves. And, as it turns out, if you play your (Club) cards right, your membership can actually pay for itself with just one purchase.

Yes, really!

With a little help from our friends at Sam’s Club, we identified six everyday items that will pay for the $45 fee for a Club membership all by themselves. One crazy perk will even cover the $100 annual fee for a Plus membership.

Coffee

Sam’s Club’s beloved Donut Shop Coffee single serving pods are a best-seller for a reason. Check out this math: Sustaining a one-cup-a-day habit for an entire year would require you to buy four boxes at an all-in price of approximately $130. The same amount of coffee pods from a national brand, which you’d have to buy more frequently, would run you well over $185 a year. That’s a savings of $55!

Tickets

Did you know that Sam’s Club is working with Ticket Monster to create a member only ticket site? It’s true. SamsClubTix.com offers steep discounts on experiences like concerts, baseball games and theme parks. For example, the gate price for 4 Adult Flex Tickets to Busch Gardens Williamsburg would normally run you $326. Buying those same tickets through SamsClubTix costs just $265—a savings of $61.

Meat

All it takes is eight pounds of ribeye steaks to pay for your Club membership. It’s true: Sam’s Club savings on USDA Choice Angus Beef Cowboy Ribeye Steak, and USDA Prime boneless Ribeye and Strip steaks are without compare.

Cake

It’s not crazy to expect to pay around $100 for a three-tier birthday cake. At Sam’s Club, however, you can get a Two Tier White or Chocolate Cake with But'r'Crème Icing (which yield approximately 46 servings) for $37, and a three-tiered cake (66 servings) for $70. That’s less than $1 per slice!

Pharmacy and Optical Services

Sam’s Club Plus members can save on select name-brand prescriptions and access over 600 generic prescriptions for $10 or less. (One couple actually saved $9,000 in a year!) Plus members also get 20% off glasses, and complete pairs for as low as $59.

Tires

If this one doesn’t get your motor running, we don’t know what will. Sam’s Club offers $80 off tires from top brands like Goodyear, Pirelli, and BFGoodrich with the purchase of four.
