Stuck in a rut using the same Christmas china each year? We teamed up with North Carolina-based Replacements, Ltd. to create stylish new looks for five popular china patterns.
Holiday by Lenox
The Pattern: This is dinnerware giant Lenox's very best seller, made right here in the South at the company's plant in Kinston, North Carolina.
The Setting: Drawing inspiration from the plate's gold band, we piled on the golded accessories, such as flatware and a charger. A green ikat tablecloth modernizes the look and adds a bold splash. Try a simple gold ornament or bell as a place card holder, and bunch inexpensive carnations tightly in gilded vases for a table that truly sparkles.
Blue Danube by Blue Danube
The Pattern: The flowers in this pattern, representing good fortune and happiness, were inspired by the Chinese Yuan dynasty.
The Setting: Our advice: You can never have too much blue and white! Paired with your best silver or pewter flatware, this pretty setting is ideal for Hanukkah or a holiday brunch.
Christmas Tree by Spode
The Pattern: Replacements' top seller, this plate has graced Southern tables for more than 70 years.
The Setting: Freshen up this classic with a clever use of natural materials—a wooden cutting board as a place mat and a wine cork as a place card holder. A tablecloth with a fun animal print creates a current, casual look.
Woodland Pheasant by Spode
The Pattern: While Woodland Pheasant is relatively new, the border of British flowers dates to 1828.
The Setting: A rustic scheme keeps this look fresh with brass accessories and woodsy textures, such as olive wood flatware, woven rattan place mats, pinecones (free!), and a mushroom tablecloth.
St. Nicholas by Fitz and Floyd
The Pattern: A bevy of holiday icons, including Santa himself, makes this a long-standing favorite.
The Setting: For tradition with a twist, layer this look with lots of red, white, and green. Scatter beaded garland and snowflake ornaments along the table, and fill a pretty urn or soup tureen with simple greenery for a quick centerpiece.
