For our newest cookbook, we teamed up with Country Music Television to bring you backstage and into the kitchen with some of Nashville's brightest stars. Like their great country songs, every recipe tells a story. Here's a sneak peek.
Zac Brown Band
When a band takes it upon themselves to feed fans before their concerts, you can assume they're pretty serious about food. Zac and the boys even travel with their own chef and a mobile kitchen nicknamed Cookie. "At our Eat and Greets, we sit down and share a meal with about 150 people, and get to actually visit with them," says Zac. "It's not about autographs, it's about really being one-on-one and connecting with your fans."

Florida Georgia Line
Brian Kelley (FL, left) and Tyler Hubbard (GA) earned their grilling marks on the 2012 Country Throwdown tour with Gary Allan. Low men on the totem pole, they were tapped as the "barbecue band," responsible for grilling for the 150-member crew every night after the show. Since then, they've grown into Big Green Egg men. "This summer I'm gonna be cookin' every dang day I'm home. I can't wait to make that sucker rock," Brian says.

Florida Georgia Line's songwriter friend Craig Wiseman shared his recipe with the band. The secret? Grill-roasted peppers that add spicy heat and a touch of sweetness and smoke to juicy burgers. Use your favorite peppers, including milder Anaheim, Cubanelle, bell, or poblano.
Growing up as the baby in a large family, Lauren was often kicked out of the kitchen—except by her grandmother. "We'd always sing that song from Winnie the Pooh, 'Up, down, touch the ground, in the mood for food,' over and over and get on everyone's nerves," Lauren says. "Food makes me happy; music makes you feel good. They just go hand in hand."

"I remember always wanting my grandmother to make this cobbler for me when I was a little girl," says country singer Lauren Alaina.
Jana's first stage might well have been her Grandma Marge's kitchen. "We loved to bake cookies together while we listened to Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn," Jana recalls. Through baking, she built her musical foundation. She also learned that straying from the recipe can lead to good things—a lesson that's served her well in her career.

Do as Jana Kramer does: Tie on an apron, put on a Patsy Cline record, and whip up some of these chewy cookies. Ground oats and chopped pecans give them great texture, and a grated milk chocolate bar gives the chocolate morsels an extraordinary boost.
Get Rachel Reinert and brothers Tom and Mike Gossin talking about food, and clear your schedule. This trio loves to eat. "Much like songwriting and performing, when you cook you're creating something," says Mike. Rachel adds, "You could just pop a dish in the microwave, but where's the love in that?" For them, it's all about tasting the love in whatever you're creating, proving nothing's better than home cooking.
Recipe: Avocado-and-Feta Dip
Gloriana's Mike Gossin says this healthy dip is one of his favorite things his mother makes. "I like it so much I may have to write a song about it. Avocado, avocado, avocado dip!" Be sure to fold in the dressing gently so the avocado and feta stay chunky.
